Acorn, 13, Marigold, 5 and Alondra, 4. Are the addresses that are located three mobile phone masts in the district of El Sobradillo, in the town center.
Although installation is not new (dating back to 10 or 12 years ago), the neighbors have begun to mobilize against them in the light of a series of widespread health problems they attribute to the proximity of these devices.
Apart from cancer, Manolo Díaz, the association of residents of El Sobradillo, mentioned that there are "lots of depressions" and cases of "Insomnia" and people who wake up in the middle of noche sin saber por qué y no pueden volver a conciliar el sueño.
Candelaria Alemán, de 61 años, perdió a su marido hace 7 meses, of a tumor, at 67 years of age. Add three years ago lost two brothers, 57 and 69, also from cancer. She claims to have diverticula. "They all lived very close from where there is an antenna," he says.
Ramón Torres, 70, suffered a rectal cancer at age 67. Still said to suffer "a lot of pain" and insomnia. "Right now I am taking sleeping pills," he said, adding: "I think that the antennas do much harm." Manolo
added if a resident of Marigold Street who "has nosebleeds" as goes out and has ended move to Barranco Grande because there has no such problems.
Alicia says that not only are older people who are suffering any discomfort. "I wake up at night and I have 34."
The reason they have begun fighting the antennas now and not 10 years ago when Alicia blames installed previously had "many unknowns" about these facilities.
however, is not the first time a resident of the neighborhood complain about the proximity of an antenna. San Andrés Vicente recalls that the September 29, 2007 that was installed off the street Petiazul. "In five years that he was five people in 70 meters, "he said. Vicente says her daughter, 41, lasted only three months after she was diagnosed with cancer and stage of metastasis. Vicente mind that the landlord allowed to put the antenna" and 15 days was ordered to move, "which seems to be something in common with the owners of all buildings in the neighborhood where it has located a mobile antenna.
No evidence
No There is no evidence linking proximity of the facility or mobile phone masts with health problems. The European Union has set limits radio emissions that phone masts are not violated.
However, the Royal Decree 401/2003 of 4 April it stipulates that "in the planning of radio facilities, the owners of the stations should take into consideration" that "in particular, the location, characteristics and operating conditions of radio stations to minimize, as far as possible emission levels on sensitive areas such as schools, health centers, hospitals and public parks. "
Manolo Diaz says less than 100 meters from the antenna of Acorn is a school, and Childcare is a less than 50 meters from the antenna on Marigold. "Where are the antennas no birds or bees or anything of life," he complains.
neighbors have already begun to mobilize and many homes already show signs of rejection of the antennas. But this stress is just the beginning. They say that will not stop until they can move those "enemies of metal."
